I remember as a child my grandmother in rural Williamsburg County in South Carolina saying that this time of year were the "dog days". I never really knew what that meant. I knew though that it was hot and muggy and filled with mosquitos, flies, and the sound of bees. I assumed it had something to do with dogs and heat. Well today I decided to google it. According to the Farmer's Almanac at https://www.farmersalmanac.com/why-are-they-called-dog-days-of-summer-21705. The Dog Days of Summer describes the most oppressive period of summer, between July 3rd and August 11th each year. But where did the term come from? And what does it have to do with dogs? Read the article for further information. Insightful. In normal circumstances I would say to continue exercise but stay hydrated during this period. However, because we are still in this pandemic, I would add that we also need to make sure that we are in optimum health and that we are supporting our immune system. This is the season to make radical changes to your diet and lifestyle choices. If not, radical intervention and radical medical support may be necessary. You have the choice.....Choose Health!
